Browse CADUK Skills Academy’s Level 2, Level 4 and Level 5 NVQs for experienced plant operators, crane operators and lifting operations personnel.
Each NVQ has its own dedicated page with full details about suitability, assessment, pricing, evidence guidance and how to apply.
CADUK Skills Academy offers recognised NVQs for experienced plant operators, crane operators, slinger signallers, crane supervisors, appointed persons and lifting operations personnel.
Our assessments are based on the work you already do. You send evidence directly to your assessor, such as videos, photos and site documents, then complete assessor discussions to confirm your knowledge and competence. There are no exams, no classroom attendance and no long written assignments.
This page gives you a simple overview of the plant and lifting NVQs that we offer. To learn more about suitability, evidence, assessment, pricing and how to apply, select the View NVQ Details button below on the category that matches your card or role.
Choose the category that matches your current CPCS or NPORS card, or the role you are carrying out on site. Each NVQ has its own dedicated page with details about the assessment process, pricing, evidence guidance and card requirements.

CADUK Skills Academy keeps the NVQ process simple, practical and based around real site work. You don’t need to attend classroom sessions or complete any written work.
1. Apply for your NVQ
View the NVQ page on this website, then click the ‘Apply Now’ button. You’ll be asked to complete a short form including your personal details, experience and CPCS/NPORS card information.
2. Approval call
One of our assessors will call you to discuss your experience and current role. They’ll make sure the NVQ is suitable and that you’ll be able to provide the evidence needed to complete it.
3. Collect Evidence
You’ll gather evidence from site, including videos of you operating the machine, witness testimony from a supervisor or manager, site documents and photographs. You’ll then send everything to your assessor.
4. Unit Discussions
You’ll complete the three units of the NVQ through a recorded discussion with your assessor. The discussion focuses on how you carry out your day-to-day work on site.
We recommend that you have at least 6 months' experience operating on a live construction site after achieving your Red CPCS or NPORS card before enrolling onto the NVQ. This gives you time to gain experience, build confidence and gather the workplace evidence needed for assessment.
Yes. Many candidates complete their NVQ remotely using evidence from their normal work, including videos, photos, site paperwork, witness testimony and assessor discussion. On-site assessment can also be arranged where required or preferred, although additional charges may apply depending on location.
Yes. Before you can enrol onto the NVQ, you must have passed the relevant CPCS or NPORS theory and practical tests and hold the corresponding Red Trained Operator card for that category.
Most experienced operators complete their NVQ within 1–2 weeks, and in many cases even sooner. You will have up to 12 months to complete the qualification if required.
Yes. Many operators hold more than one CPCS or NPORS category. Level 2 Plant Operations NVQs contain two mandatory units and one machine-specific unit. Once the mandatory units have been achieved, they do not need to be repeated, meaning additional categories can often be completed by achieving just the machine-specific unit. We therefore offer discounted rates where multiple eligible plant NVQs are completed with us at the same time.
Choose the NVQ page that matches your category and complete the short online application form. One of our assessors will then check your suitability before enrolment and confirm the evidence needed for your assessment.

If you already hold the relevant Red CPCS or NPORS card, choose your NVQ category and complete the online application form.
One of our assessors will then contact you to discuss your experience, answer any questions and confirm your suitability. The call is completely free and there’s no obligation to go ahead afterwards.
Once approved to enrol by your assessor, you can start your NVQ whenever you’re ready.
